Introduction

This case highlights the implementation of nCino on Salesforce to support digital lending, onboarding, and deposit account processes within financial institutions. The work demonstrates how Salesforce Financial Services Cloud and nCino were combined to deliver secure, scalable, and integration-ready banking solutions.

Context

The Salesforce environments were designed to support banking and financial services operations requiring loan origination, customer onboarding, account opening, and regulatory-compliant data handling. Salesforce served as the core platform, extended by nCino to manage end-to-end banking workflows. The solutions needed to integrate with external banking systems, support real-time data exchange, and provide intuitive user experiences for relationship managers and operations teams.

Challenge

The primary challenge involved aligning complex banking processes with Salesforce-native and nCino-specific data models while maintaining performance, accuracy, and compliance. Loan origination and onboarding workflows required dynamic user interfaces, conditional logic, and real-time access to external systems. Additional complexity came from integrating multiple banking platforms, ensuring consistent data mapping between Salesforce and nCino structures, and supporting continuous delivery through governed DevOps practices.

Approach

The approach focused on leveraging nCino’s core capabilities while extending them through custom Salesforce development. Declarative configuration and screen flows were used to model standard banking processes, while Lightning Web Components and Aura components delivered enhanced user interfaces. Integration patterns were standardized using REST and SOAP services, Lightning Connect, and optimized fetch strategies to minimize latency. Component communication was streamlined using Lightning Messaging Service and Lightning Data Service to ensure consistency and performance across nCino-enabled applications.

Solution

nCino was configured to support loan origination, customer onboarding, and deposit account opening workflows aligned with institutional requirements. Custom workflows and screen flows guided users through complex processes while enforcing validation and compliance rules. Lightning Web Components provided responsive UI enhancements tailored to banking use cases.

Salesforce-to-nCino integrations enabled real-time data exchange with external banking systems, supported by well-defined data mapping strategies to preserve accuracy and auditability. Reporting and dashboards were implemented to provide stakeholders with actionable insights into pipeline health, onboarding progress, and operational performance. DevOps practices supported consistent deployments through CI/CD pipelines, version control, and scratch org strategies, ensuring reliable delivery across environments.

Outcome

The resulting solution delivered a streamlined digital banking platform that improved operational efficiency and user experience. Banking teams benefited from guided workflows, faster data access, and reduced manual effort, while leadership gained improved visibility through reporting and analytics. The architecture proved scalable and adaptable, supporting ongoing enhancements as banking products and regulations evolved.

Technology Stack

The solution leveraged Salesforce Financial Services Cloud and nCino, Lightning Web Components, Aura components, Salesforce Flows, Apex, REST and SOAP integrations, Lightning Connect, Lightning Messaging Service, Lightning Data Service, DevOps tooling, and Salesforce reporting and dashboards.
